Tunetown: Happy Holidays

We can’t deny it any longer – the holidays are coming and they’re coming soon. I say the best way to welcome it is with festive music to get you in the mood. I put together a Christmas playlist with my favorites – some older classics (I love The Carpenters), newer acapella, and everything in-between. If you are looking for other playlists see my Tunetown tag for more (like my spooky Halloween playlist!). Scroll down to listen right here or click through to Spotify to enjoy there as well.
Making Memories
I vividly remember hearing being surprised and excited to learn in college that while some Christmas and holiday songs were essentially universal, there was a lot of really great music out there that I had never heard. My roommates and friends introduced me to the songs that their families had always listened to during their celebrations. Now many of those songs are an important part of how we celebrate the season too. Making a Christmas playlist is a fun way to get into the spirit even before the season arrives – though I know that’s not a problem for a lot of people. I won’t judge you if you listen to this all year long!
While you’re here, check out my gift guides: ideas for new moms and dads with more coming soon! Did some of your favorites make the list? One of my all time favorite Christmas songs is by Gayla Peevey – I Want A Hippopotamus For Christmas. It’s downright goofy and I’ll even admit that little Gayla’s voice is not for the fainthearted. Better than Alvin & the Chipmunks though! You really can’t let the season pass without hearing that one. Let me know what you can’t live without in the comments below – I’d love to hear from you as you get into the swing of things.
