Best Instagram Accounts for New Moms

It seems like every day more and more of the things we do, buy and experience can be found online. That’s certainly true when you’re pregnant, and the beauty of Instagram especially is that you can learn all sorts of things while you are scrolling! I’ve put together a list of a few accounts that I enjoyed while I was pregnant (and still enjoy) that might be helpful or entertaining to you while you count down your 9 month journey. Lucy Knisley @lucyknisley
I stumbled across Lucy Knisley’s Instagram early in my pregnancy, as she has a ton of fun comics about her cute toddler (who goes by Pal, for anonymity’s sake). Please also take a look at her books, especially Kid Gloves, which details her journey toward pregnancy and motherhood mixed with tons of facts and information about pregnancy. It’s a quick but moving read.
Liesel Teen @mommy.labornurse
Liesel’s Instagram is fun and informative with tips about pregnancy, babies and the labor and delivery experience. Don’t forget to skim the comments – lots of great conversations from other moms about their experiences and pregnancies.
Pregnant Chicken @pregnantchicken
Funny photos, tweets, informative posts, product recommendations and encouragement – what more could you ask for! Pregnant Chicken’s Instagram is a distillation of the website, and it’s definitely worth a follow.
Taking Cara Babies @takingcarababies
While Cara offers her newborn and toddler sleep classes via online courses (and in-person, if you live in Phoenix), she and her team also provide tons of great information about sleep and baby care in general via their Instagram. Another great place to skim comments to see solutions from other moms.
Unremarkable Us @unremarkable_us
This comic series is a geeky but real take on pregnancy and new parenthood. I think I show my husband every time they post a new one! It’s so important to have something to make you laugh when your baby has been crying for hours. This will do it.
Feeding Littles @feedinglittles
Judy & Megan (who runs the account most of the time) are professionals in the feeding and eating department. Not only do they share great information on eating for babies and toddlers, but they also are advocates for healthy eating for everyone at any age. A great encouraging account to follow.
These Instagram accounts have helped keep me sane, entertained, and encouraged in my first few months as a mom and I’m so grateful. While it’s important to make sure we’re spending time without our phones in hand, these days, smart phones are a fact of life. So if you’re going to use it, get something good out of it!
