Baby Products That Are Worth the Hype

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

I’m sure you’ve seen tons of Pinterest pins and Instagram posts about baby registry must-haves. There are a lot of resources out there to help you decide what to put on your registry or to buy before baby arrives. How can you tell which ones are useful and which ones are just pretty or trendy? I ended up with quite a few things that I really love and think lived up to their lofty reputations. Here’s the baby products that are worth the hype:

Boppy

I really was a Boppy hater before I had my baby. I thought “Hey, what’s the big deal? Can’t you just use any pillow?” Well yes, past Stephanie, you can. However, the Boppy is perfectly shaped, nice and firm and makes breastfeeding so much easier! A lot of products also claim to have multiple uses, and sometimes those additional uses feel like a stretch. Not so with the Boppy. Ours is used for feeding, baby cuddling, and now that she’s a little bigger, propping and tummy time. It’s also handy when someone elderly or without much arm strength needs a little help supporting her weight. Indispensable. I’d buy it over and over again. Plus, cute covers! I have this floral print and cute woodland print. (and you’re gonna want at least two – babies love to spit up on that thing).

Go by Goldbug Nursing Scarf

Like I mentioned above, there are a lot of baby products that claim to do a lot of different things. Nursing scarfs or covers are the number one offender on that front. That being said, we use this floral scarf as a car seat cover, nursing cover, blanket, general baby protection layer. (Mine is grey floral from Target, but this is a similar print). I have not worn it as a scarf, since our average temperature is still in the 90s, but I love this thing. I know there are a lot of options out there for similar items, but this is very light and breathable and that makes a difference. It also has snaps on the top so you can have it open or closed over the car seat, which is a nice feature.

Earth Mama Organic Diaper Balm

As we are cloth diapering, we can’t use petroleum based diaper creams. That rules out some of the big name products like Aquaphor or just plain Vaseline. However, I’d seen good things said about this diaper balm from Earth Mama so we gave it a try. We love it. Smells great, smooths on easy and absolutely works. When we see even a tiny bit of redness, just a swipe of this balm and it’s cleared up by the next time we change her diaper. Plus, the fact that its organic is just one less thing to worry about. If you’ve read my post on the things I bought after my baby arrived, then you know I love their nipple balm as well.

Ollie Swaddle

Interestingly enough, I really only added swaddle blankets and a wearable blanket to my registry. I didn’t realize before baby arrived the vast and varied world that is swaddling. I think swaddles in general are baby products that are worth the hype. Now that we’re on the other side, we’re converts for the Ollie Swaddle. I mentioned this in my post on surviving the newborn stage as well. The Ollie Swaddle works like a charm for us, and it’s pretty much idiot proof. That’s especially useful when you’re only running on a few hours of sleep. Just Velcro and go! I got mine used but I’d pay full price for them any time.

Boogie Wipes

I really didn’t see the point of Boogie Wipes. Why wouldn’t I just use a baby wipe to wipe her face? But we ended up getting sick twice in the first three months after our baby was born and these wipes became part of our routine. I bought the largest quantity I could find! They are gentler, soothing, and by some kind of boogie magnet magic, manage to pull all the snot out of my baby’s nose. A miracle.

Is there a baby product that was worth the hype for you? Or is there something that you’ve got your eye on that you aren’t sure about? I’ve definitely eaten my words on these products and I don’t know that I would have survived without them. Let me know what you think in the comments below!
