My Favorite Youtube Channels

What can’t you find on Youtube anymore? I think at this point, if you can dream it, it’s out there. From DIY projects, garden tours and “clean with me” videos to political commentary and epic rap battles, it’s all there just waiting for you to click. That being said, there is still a need to sift through the billions (no joke) of videos to get to things worth viewing and people worth checking out. I’ve gotten in to the habit of throwing on a video when I’m working on my computer (my husband does the same thing) so I thought I would share the cream of the crop with you. Read on for my favorite Youtube channels (and the best videos to start with):

Safiya Nygaard

I would consider Safiya’s channel to be the one with the most diversity in it’s content. From decade researched fashion to her makeup science videos, she does it all, and does it all well. I’ve been watching her videos for a few years now and I’m always keen to see whatever new things she’s come up with. Plus I’m waiting on the restock of her collaboration with Colourpop!

Glam & Gore

Mykie is a wildly talented makeup artist who works not only in traditional beauty makeup, but also in special effects. She’s a quirky personality and always willing to share her talents with us via Youtube. I originally came across her looking for a Sombra makeup tutorial, which is what I based my makeup on when I did my own Sombra cosplay a couple of years ago. She is also a major Halloween fan, which in its own rights gets her on my list of favorite Youtube channels!

SimplyNailogical

While she’ll be the first to say that she used to do nail art tutorials, Cristine’s channel has broadened to include her attempts to become a “beauty guru”, forays into the kitchen and other high jinks (full disclosure, had to look up how to spell high jinks… hijinks?). She is unapologetically herself in every video, and there actually is some nail art once in a while. In a refreshing turn, Cristine and her partner Ben often talk about the volatility of Youtube and encourage their viewers not to jump into the world of video making without a backup plan. Education first is always a good message.

Sharon Farrell

I watch a pretty wide variety of makeup Youtubers to try and refine my own skills, but Sharon is the only one I have subscribed to and continue to watch. She’s very down to earth, fun to follow along with, and in my case, a good match for my complexion. Definitely no pulling the punches when it comes to her product reviews! She had a baby last year and it has been great following along on that journey with her as well.

First We Feast

If you aren’t already familiar with Hot Ones, please stop reading this and just watch the video. This is the one series that my husband and I will always watch together. Sean is one of the best interviewers of our time (maybe even the best). He gets genuine real personality out of all of the celebrities they have on the show. Plus who doesn’t love the vulnerability of someone sweating it out on the hot sauce?

Yoga With Adriene

I’ve watched the first 15 seconds of hundreds of yoga videos on Youtube over the years just to be turned off my the music, or the person’s style of teaching or speaking. Once I found Adriene, the search was over. She’s so welcoming and calm, pleasant without being cloyingly sweet and an easy to follow teacher. I’ve loved following her videos and her email newsletter is encouraging as well. She cracks me up.

Do you have a favorite Youtube channel that I should subscribe to? If you like this kind of post, don’t miss my favorite Instagram accounts for new moms. I love that Youtube has become such a resource for us. If there is something you want to know about, someone has made a video about it. We’re living in the future, ya’ll.
